Summer markets are around the corner, so here are some tips from a seasoned vendor of two years!

☀️ INVEST IN A GOOD WAGON
Listen, getting a wagon to help haul your things around is worth every penny, especially if it’s long-distance or you have a lot of stuff. It’s expensive up front, but I got mine at Sam’s Club for about $100!

☀️ MAKE A UNIQUE SET-UP
There are so many ways to set up your products, make sure it’s unique and easy for people to pick up and touch. People are more inclined to buy if they have an emotional connection to it. I’ve also seen interactive set-ups such as spin the wheel, follow for a free sticker, clothing racks, etc.

☀️ HAVE COMMON PHRASES FOR CUSTOMERS
Ever seen those videos on “how to get away from a vendor?” This one takes a while to get used to, but I don’t try to force conversation with customers unless they initiate first (controversial), especially if they are shy or just want to shop. I only share how I make things if they ask or are interested in a specific item. That way, they don’t feel guilty for not buying something and you save some energy!

☀️ RESEARCH VENUE/EVENT AHEAD OF TIME
A lot of factors go into having a successful event and there’s a lot that can go wrong if you don’t plan accordingly. Researching if an event is indoor/outdoor, has live music, the weather, and the audience can help you plan accordingly

☀️ BRING AN ESMB
These people are your lifesavers, and I call them emotional support market buddies! If you can, bring someone who can help set up/break down, man the station, and watch when you have bathroom breaks. I always offer to buy food or pay for gas if someone helps me! It makes such a big difference when you can feel comfortable at an event 👯
